Not A Nice Girl….

Working the night shift compared to the day is a world of difference.  On Friday I worked the day shift, then needed to come back to work the night shift.  I was tired, my feet were sore.  A drunken hick comes in sporting a hunting hat and wife beater t shirt.  He finds cause for complaint with my sandwich making skills and I urge him to be patient.  After all, I tell him, it’s been twenty years since I rejoined the food industry.

He informs me ‘things are tough all over, you aren’t a very nice girl."

I tell him we are all entitled to our opinions, do you want chips or a drink.

No, just the sandwich and he hands me a fifty.

Sir, do you have anything smaller?  I don’t want to use up all our change.

He sort of shocks me.  He boldly declares to another customer, "Well all I know is if I give you this fifty I best be getting back my Fucking Change….excuse my language."

I sighed and made the decision to reply…."No Fucking Problem."

His eyes got pretty big.  He once again told me I am not a nice girl and huffed it out of the store.

Of course cursing to the customers is a big no no, I knew it before I let it rip…and of course he asked me for my name.  I told the truth and came in this morning to tell Angie what I had done.  I had to tell, he was going to tell on me.  Angie clapped her hands over her mouth but I clearly heard a guffaw.  She explained to me all the trouble I could get into in a very professional manner then let me know I am indeed a nice girl, and way funny.

Angie did have a phone call about me today, very positive!  Thank you to all those customers that take the time to report good behavior, I needed it today!

*dies* That’s just fantastic. I know there are all sorts of rules in customer service about being polite, but damn it, some people just have it coming.
