National security crisis

Watching my country commit geopolitical suicide today was as depressing as it was painful. We gave up on being a world leader because the reading list was too hard. I remember whenever I would hear how any country could be bamboozled by a cult of personality I thought, “but maybe not here — or not so easily.” But wow! It was easier than I would have thought. That a total sleezebag trash bucket like Trump could become president and then drive this country into the ditch — I at least thought that our nation’s destroyer would be someone not so obviously corrupt and clownish.

I read an essay about the graphic design of the MAGA hat. That it was the stupidest, Vistaprint default in nature was its appeal. It spoke to a kind of dumbed down lack of critical thinking skills that appealed to the Applebee’s/Arby’s crowd. Because it was ugly and stupid, it caught on.
