I’m Alive
I’m typing this entry to basically inform everyone that I have not died. I have not been bitten by a King Brown snake or have falllen down the stairs due to my clumsiness. Everything’s just been rather busy.
A couple of Fridays ago, Mom took James and I to SkyHigh. No, not the superhero school (although I wish it was that) but a little tourist place in the mountains. It was beautiful. We actually went through a hedge maze that turned out to be quite a challenge. At one point, James was running around in circles around a clump of hedges. I just stood there watching him with this stupified look on my face. We finally found our way out. I was the first to make it. James came out second mostly because my mom has no sense of direction whatsoever. James and I were waiting 20 minutes before she finally came out.
This Thursday was Thanksgiving. Even though it is an American holiday, a group that was 1/2 Americans 1/2 Aussies invited us for dinner. I stuffed myself and just knew that we were going to be eating turkey sandwiches for the next 10 days.
This Friday, I attended the Ladies’ Christmas Dinner with all the women from Belmore Road COC. It was great fun! There was a total of 5 young ladies, myself included, and we all stuck together. My favorite part was drinking hot green tea laced with sugar and dipping pineapple chunks in chocolate syrup. Man, I love chocolate-covered fruit…
Mom did the devo and told a story that almost made me cry. Here it is:
There’s a certain mountain in China called Huang Shan. Young, vowed-to-be-married couples would hike up the mountain with a purchased padlock. Once at the top, they’d write their names on the padlock and lock in onto a railing on the mountain. Then they’d take the key to the padlock and throw it as far as they can off the mountain. The point is that if the young couple ever wanted a divorce, they’d have to find the key.
Wow.
Speaking of love and vows and things that makes me cry, I’m feeling a little at the moment. And I’m pretty sure that the situation is actually !
More on that later, though. Thanks for reading!
