poetry

Yesterday was one of those days.  I won’t go into details, let’s just say intergenerational relations were trying, and 3 generations were involved.  Add to that my oldest son left town again which always makes me sad even though he hasn’t lived here for almost 2 years.

Today was gray and rainy.  My husband is still sick and the day started too early with the puppy throwing up his breakfast.

So, by 9 am I was definitely ready for distraction.   I came across a link to this site and a mom’s haiku contest:
http://www.mamasaysom.com/main/

Turns out that it is only open to US residents but it inspired me anyways and I put a purchase request in at my public library for the book called Haiku Mama.

Then I wrote my first 2 haiku ever (is there a plural?)

The mom one:
"He was here, I smile
The oldest of my 4 sons
So big now, so tall."

The second is a knitting one of course:

" I do like to knit,
The yarn, the needles, click, click
Time stretches out slow."

Yeh…families can be trying. Nice Haiku(s) by the way. Hope your hubby is feeling better soon. With a smile…
