Camp

my daughter left for camp today. I hysterically cried in the car, as we drove off, leaving her a school bus full of kids. Two of those girls werentso nice to her or other kids, last year. They stared and pointed at MY daughter. We quickly spoke to a camp counselor. We informed them. You know, we did the “right thing”. I told my daughter, don’t let anyone fck with you. Defend yourself. Don’t let anyone make you feel less than. If in the end, you need to come home, we’ll drive to the camp site and pick you up.

I cried in the car and my bf, begged me to calm down. I texted my daughter, (she has her phone on her for now). She’s like “mom I’m fine. Calm down.” She says but how can she be fine without me there to fight her battles for her. I know I have to let her have her own experiences. But I don’t want to. My mother wanted me to have my own experiences and where did that leave me ? An emotional basket case. Lawd! Now I have to get it together for another family bbq. ::wipes tears:: ::insert fake smile::
