SanDiego
So, I’m here in San Diego… and yes, I made that one word to keep in line with my single word titles. Yeah… I’m weird. I love the weather here. It’s hot, but it’s nothing compared to the mugginess St. Louis and Columbia hold.
Let’s get something out of the way to begin with. Last year I went to Milwaukee with Matt (he’s the coordinator for disabilites at Mizzou, but he has cerebal palsy), and the experience was less than thrilling. He just constantly does stupid things and does unbelievably frustrating things. Anyway… this year I knew what I was getting into when he asked if I could go to San Diego with him for this year’s conference. unfortunately, he seems to have put the entire week last year to shame just in the FIRST day here in San Diego. I try really hard to remember that this guy has cerebal palsy, but when he’s got a Masters in Counseling Psychology and insists on being treated like a normal person… it’s just hard not to get frustrated. Anyways, I don’t feel like going into details… mainly because it would take forever to write, and I just don’t feel like writing that much. The upside is that I’m in San Diego and he’s paying me well.
So yes, San Diego is beautiful. This is going to sound incredibly girly of me, but the mall behind the resort we’re staying in is the coolest mall i’ve ever been to. It’s an open mall, so the walkways and bridges and everything are uncovered. The weather around here is nice enough year around to build malls like this, but still… it’s an incredibly beautiful mall. There’s just something about being in the mall and being able to smell the ocean air carried by the breeze… it’s just awesome. The resort we’re in is only okay, but the landscaping is amazing. It’s really a piece of work. I’m going to take some pictures while I’m here and post ’em up on the net eventually.
The plane ride was pretty cool. i’ve never been to the west coast, and I’ve never seen the rockky mountains. Unfortunately we took the southern route and I was sitting on the lieft side of the plane, so I didn’t get to see too much, but I did get to see the really cool looking deserts and the foothills of some of the souther rocky mountain ranges. I also brought along my GPS receiver so i could actually track our flight all the way to San Diego… that was some nerdy fun for me. SWEEEEEET. By the way, speaking of nerdy fun… download the newest beta for google Earth and check out New York and Chicago. Zoom in close so you can see the buildings and you’ll notice that some buildings are overlapping! It’s a really cool optical illusion that happend because they used arial photos at different angles. It’s worth the gander… it’s utterly amazing how normal, but odd it looks.
Lauren, you’re a sweetheart. Thanks for the kind words. I wish I could say that everyone felt that way about me… and it’s certainly a quality I strive for… being a loyal friend that is… but even I have made some horrible choices and hurt friends. Fortunately for me, I get a chance right now to set everything straight and get things back on track. It is indeed also comforting to know that I do have a loyal friend in you as well. We may live far away from each other… but we seem to have very similar desires in our friends and our lives. I’m so glad that someone else sees so many things in the same light as I do.
Well… everyone, it’s getting close to my bedtime, and i’m exhausted from the amazing amount of walking i did today. Peace out… and here’s to loyal friends!
Just saw your hat, batman is frickin awesome! =P

Yes, I admit it…I was declaring my love for you in my post. 😉 hehe. In all seriousness though, it means a lot to me that you seem to always be there even if we don’t see each other EVER. Hopefully that will change eventually! Have fun in San Diego! How long are you there for?
