Travel

I guess it’s just the tech snob inside me thinking aloud, but when they only used the front channel speakers at the theatre yesterday, I was very unhappy.  It made all of the speech practicaly inaudible and everything was incredibly muddled and terrible sounding.  Hey, at least I got to see the movie for free.  Yeah, I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean the other night.  It was okay, but nothing terribly special.  I think Depp gave it about as much life as it needed to pass as a decent experience.  I can’t say the sound helped at all, though.   =0P 

So work was long… I mean LONG yesterday.  We went out at 9am and didn’t get back until 8pm.  We decided we wanted to get 300 meters of data in.  We’re going to head out tomorrow as well.  I’m going to St. Louis Monday night and coming back here Wednesday night.  My sister is coming in town with her boyfriend – and possible fiance – and I want to meet him.  Of course I’m excited to see my sister as well.  That should be a given.  Well, I guess it isn’t final that I will be in town just yet, but it looks like it will happen.  This is the main reason I decided to work tomorrow… so that my missing work for St. Louis this week wouldn’t be a huge issue with Brett.  He’s going to get back to me tonight to let me know if I’ll be able to leave for two days.  I hope it’s okay, but if not, it’s understandable.  This is his project after all. 

Heading back to St. Louis will be exciting… but hard at the same time.  There are some people I would kill to see, but something tells me it just isn’t going to work out as I’d like.  I’m still excited to see Kali and the family, though.  Ryan and I are going to have a blast picking on Paul and Kali.  I promised Kali, however, that I wouldnt’ scare this one off.  She wasn’t too happy with how I treated Adam… but it was all in jest.  He just decided to take my threats seriously.  I mean… what’s wrong with being a unich?  =0P  Alas, my sister is a big girl and she can handle herself.  I just have to keep reminding myself of that. 

On the 18th, I’ll be leaving for San Diego.  Matt and I will also be taking a trip down to Tijuana for a day.  I’m really excited to see the west coast.  The farthest west I’ve ever been was Texas.  I guess you could argue that Saipan was west… but we only stopped in Texas and hawaii… I didn’t get to see the anything else… especially since I was squished into the center of the plane.  I’m now down to 199 pounds… and I’m starting to look much better.  I suppose the work I’m doing right now is certainly contributing to the weight loss, and I’m really happy I can have a job that helps out like this.  Something tells me I won’t be spending any time on the beaches, though, so it doesn’t really matter too much.  I’m just happy I’m feeling better with my body… as superficial as it sounds.  I’m sure everyone wants to feel good about there body, right? 

Gah… it really hurts knowing you screwed so many things up… and having so many friendships that are so important to you that you just can’t have now.
