part 2 of 0200 thursday

Had a shotgun shoot Yesterday.  That went over pretty well.  And there is suppose to be a 9 mm pistol shoot on Friday.  Not really looking forward to that one.  That takes the longest, and well it’s just not all that fun to do underway.  The good thing about it, people do listen out there, and I have yet to throw anyone off the line for fucking up out there.  That is one thing I tell people before they shoot, you mess up, and I will throw you off my line.  It is my range, I am the one in charge out there, and if you don’t like it, then don’t come shoot…!  So far (and knock on wood) I have only had one person really get a little wild out there, and when I got their case, they stopped doing what they were doing.  It only takes me seeing a gun sweeping the line once to get onto you…and well the person that did it, he didn’t sweep the line shooting, he swept the people waiting to shoot…!  So what he did is bring the weapon back, and pretty much point it backwards…or close to it.  It’s hard to explain…but the line coach that was standing beside him didn’t see it the first time, nor did I.  I had five other people in front of me that I was watching.  Well when he did it the second time I walked over there and fixed the problem.  And the person that was standing beside him didn’t stand on the line for the rest of the morning.  It’s bad enough people do that, but when someone is a line coach and doesn’t see that, then they don’t need to be out there on the line.  It seems that the 9 mm pistol is the one that gives people the most problems too…it’s small, you can get away with pointing it at other things than the target…but I better not see that happen.  One other thing that people try to get away with it keeping that finger on the trigger.  It is very important to keep the finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire.  It’s all about sight picture, and knowing what you are shooting at.  If you just slap the trigger because your finger is already on it, your going to throw that round.  Yeah you might hit the target, but it’s not where it’s suppose to be…you aim for center mast.  It’s not a heart shot, but you hit the chest, and your going to make a mess of that person.  Simple enough.  I don’t like the 9 mm pistol due to the lack of throw down power, but still, you can kill someone with it just as easy as you can with a .45 caliber pistol.  The .45 though, that is twice the size of a 9 mm bullet.  It’s slower than the 9 mm, but hell with all that lead coming at you, speed of a .45 isn’t going matter.  One hit from a .45 in the chest…well lets just say, Bye…!  I sure do miss those guns.
