Writing Related News/Ready Player One Swag

Hey fellow writers and ODers. I have been really busy, and brewing things. There has always been a part of me that felt as though I was gipped in the education department because I was disabled and had to be put in Special Education instead of being allowed to take mainstream classes with a few exceptions and/or modifications. This is never truer than when I think about how very little instruction and learning I’ve actually had in the art of Creative Writing.

I’ve been writing for a very long time now without this training, and while I’m told I can write and tell a good story, I’d rather have that background of knowing a thing or two about how to construct a story better. So, two nights ago I started looking for answers that didn’t involve going to real college because I didn’t want the mathematics and all of that stuff.

Enter Coursera. It’s real college on your schedule, and your financial ability. And it’s all online and through a mobile app. How handy is that for someone like me? Pretty damn handy. Within a few clicks, I was enrolled in their Creative Writing Specialization and taking my first lectures. I finished my first assignment this morning. (Oh geezus was that nerve-wracking!).  Enrolled in part 2: Craft of Character, which starts on the 25th.  And with PayPal Credit, I  will never have it come out of pocket. Yay!  Not going to tell anyone how much. If you’re really interested in the course at all, send me a Private Note, and I’ll get you the links.

Today I went out to GulfView Mall for what I thought was going to be one of my last trips to Hot Topic. I went in and I was all set to buy one or two things, but I wound up buying eight different things. Most of it is Ready Player One merchandise that they were basically giving away. Couldn’t pass that up. I loved that movie more than I thought I would love a movie. That and AWrinkle in Time is tied for first this year for the favorite movie. The Greatest Showman is up there, too. But I’ve digressed. The necklaces and earrings I bought with the T-shirt are for tomorrow. And I’ll probably wear them a lot. Haha. I also bought another Hufflepuff necklace. 🙂  Gotta represent me and my boy Newt Scamander, too!

I thought I’d share them with you guys. 🙂

(I have more pics, but for some reason, they are saying that my files for the last couple of pics are too big (when they were taken the exact same way as these two were and none of the camera features were changed so I don’t know what’s up with that).

The University of Iowa has some Creative Writing classes too that are free. They tend to be very big though.

What’s the link for the Coursera ones?
