The right choice

Well I went in thursday and talked with my prof concerning his class. I basically said that it had been ages since I studied the math that we are using in this class and that I would need to spend a bit of time reviewing it before I felt comfortable with the new material. I tried to make a case that before too much longer, this sort of math stuff would end. I don’t quite believe it plus about 70% of our grade is based on just 2 exams. Thanks but no thanks.

My chairman teased me a bit for wimping out on this class but I can live with that. What he doesn’t realize is that my taking databases actually will help in my job. It is one of those areas I know just enough about to configure and secure a system. In addition, database knowledge will help with ny research stuff concenring phishing attacks. About the only concern I had left is how much this change would cost me. When I took my drop/add slip to the registrar, the clerk talked about this and that charge. I was fully expecting to drop a good $300 for this. We get a fee courtsey working for the university but they are really weird about it. I was happy to dee this weekend that instead, I have another $30 to pay. Much easier to deal with.

Now I have about 100 pages to read to get caught up…

Just thinking about going back to school makes me shudder with revulsion. Although I know I really should, I just can’t make myself do it. Ugh.
