Do I stay or do a go…

What a perfect song for my mood.

As I sat in lecture tonight I was more and more convinced that this course is not for me. Too many math proofs, etc. It has been far too long since I have done this stuff and wasn’t particularily good at it when it was fresh. I also don’t really see how this stuff will help me professionally or with the research work I am doing. Don’t get me wrong, there are parts of it that are interesting. It’s just that it is a lot of work for a small return. I won’t even mention how difficult it is to read a book like ours with two little girls running around the house.

I tried talking to my prof about this a little after class.  He sort of laughed it off which ticked me off a bit. Sadly he is also my advisor and there is a part of me that feels like I am letting him down. I suspect he wanted me to take it because he loves this stuff. Honestly, I could care less. If it works and someone else has proven the equations, why do I need to? I am going to talk with him tomorrow.

My plan is to do what I originally envisioned which was to take our graduate database course. I have talked to a few friends who are in there who don’t think I’ll have any problems getting caught up. We are only a couple fo weeks into the semester fortuantely.

Fun way to start the new year.

When my brain see’s or heards the word “math” it shuts down, mental block kicks in. Good luck with the decisions. *hugs*

English and History were always my bests… Math, never was. Besides, you know what is best for you… And I like what you said about if someone else had already proven it, then why should you need to? *S* Makes perfect sense to me!

I’m glad that you are still early enough the semester for the transition. I’m sure you’ll do great!! RYN ~ I store my Christmas stuff in a shed at my parents’ house. Not enough room here.
