Tour de France 04.45

Exactly three weeks ago I went to  the sleepy town of Tenterden in Kent to watch the Tour de France. All week I’d watched the town transform itself and finally it was ready to welcome 11 000 spectators. I was rather overwhelmed by the idea of that many people but I ended up volunteering to be a warden.

In fact, it turned out ok, I wardened that music stages and then when the race came through, I idled off down the street and bumped into a friend. We found a decent spot to watch and I managed to get some pics.

Incredible though, one week later, driving through to realise that this was the same crowd lined streets.

Today the Tour de France ends after numourous drugs scandals. Names of cyclists I watched with bated breath last year, completely sullied by drugs scandals.

I told Sean today that a Belgian had come home with the Green Jersey. He laughed and said "well, there weren’t many others left were there".

Guess he has a point really.

I’m thinking that K should participate in this, if she hasn’t already. Speaking of, shouldn’t she be up soon.

Regarding your other note, the event will probably be in early 2008 so we will talk as it gets closer. Still, I don’t want to feel like I put you out in any way. Thank you though for the offer.

I’ll keep this diary in my faves…in case you get the urge to write again when you are not so tired. You must be delirious by now.

OK, I don’t get one thing: If you are hours ahead of me, how can people in the States be done with the Blog-a-thon. I started to hunt around OD to see where others were.

Did you take the picture?

I didn’t know they went through Tenterden!! How exciting!! I can’t imagine very many big music places there though – where did they put 11000 people plus music stands? Did you all have to breathe in? Pinkysu
