Belgian basket 04.29

A dear fav wanted to know what I would put in a basket if I were creating something for Belgium. It would depend on my finances, but typical Belgian products would be:

A little handkerchief edged with Belgian lace from Brugge or Brussels.

Primarily different cheeses – Chimay, Ciney      and different dried sausages – la saucisse d’Ardennes.

Careful though, the cheeses can be smelly.    I love the smell of the sausages even though I don’t realy eat them (alhough I can be known to nibble them).

Beer – again, Ciney, Chimay.

The best Belgian products originate in monasteries where beer and cheese were produced by the monks.

Of course, you could put croissants too but they would be smelly from the cheese.

SA – I don’t think I can send you food stuffs to the US but I could send you some lace if you like? And some pics?  and I could have a better think to see if there is something else I could send.

Thanks for the entry and the many ideas. of course I can always some some of those scrumptious Belgium chocolates that everyone loves and adores. I thought of this idea before when I was snacking on the last bag of potato chips , no, shall I say, crisps, that a fellow diarist, [Lawhussy] brought to me when we met up when she was in the States in June. She had brought me some chutney andCadburys and Jaffa cakes & of course, teas. I was thinking I could do this with some other countries too, making some nice baskets.

RYN about the character formation and what impacts things: I guess that makes a lot of sense. Such a great deal of planning with this.

Thanks for this entry btw. As the event comes closer (I don’t even have a date yet but I am thinking in January), I might be bothering you for more ideas.
