Like Clockwork [Quilted]

There is a patch in me that defies time.
And though I deny its very existence,
It exists only to test my resolve – then dissolve
A foundation I’ve laid beneath it.
The patch can attach itself to anyone it chooses
Without release – it is relentless.

This patch is passion

And no matter how many times I stitch it to myself
It runs free, flies wild. Its threads come undone.
I come undone.

Everything unravels after time.
Beneath it, the foundation lays unfettered,
Yet covered – and blinded by curiosity.
Doomed to lay there unraveled
Until I can pull it together again

I need it to pull it together – and keep it that way
Forever.

These stitches are not for you.
