Happy Fathers’ Day

Ahhh… it’s been a long week.

Tuesday I had my last class, where we went to a midle school in Wausau to see how they impliment the "middle school theory" and such.  Which essentially means team teaching, seperating grades, varied classes with more options, etc.  It made me happy for these kids, cause they clearly have a great school, but it made me REALLY MAD about every school I’VE ever been to/inside of, because clearly OUR community doesn’t give half the shit that the people of Wausau do about their children.

Wednesday Nathan and I went to Germantown to visit with my family.  We played with Rayanne and Isaiah, had dinner, and gave my dad his Fathers’ Day present – a second Guitar Hero controler for the Wii.

I had been really concerned about how this visit would go; it was the first visit home I’ve had since Nathan and I moved into the apartment, and I assumed Mom and Dad were stil mad at me.  But if anything, they were nicer than they ever have been.  I’m so incredibly relieved.  Now, all I have to do is ask if we can come back next weekend for the Fourth of July/fireworks in our back yard/Summerfest.

I’m watching Clean House, and some days I LOVE how much they highlight how gay Mark is.  The other day, someone else was wearing a Queen of Hearts costume, and Mark goes, "Excuse me, there’s only enough room for ONE queen at this yardsale."

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway.

I’ve been working straight since Thursday, and doing very little to nothing else, because I felt poopy on top of it.  But I got a couple hundred dollars from three shifts, so I was pleased.

Yesterday, Nathan’s dad came to help him build the set, and he stayed with us last night.  We made dinner and watched some TV after they got home, but since I had to be to work at 7.15 this morning, it was an early night.  It was nice to see him, though.

Today was an adventure and a half.  I went in early because there was a group of 48 people coming in.  They had all pre-ordered and paid, so all I had to do was take out the right food and drink to the right people.  It got a little difficult because they sat down wherever they wanted, meaning we had to find them when their food came up – which was more difficult than it even sounds.  They were all either first or second generation Americans, and so although they were all perfectly fluent speakers… most of them had some pretty difficult names for a boring old Wisconsinite for me to pronounce >.<

I got $45 from that alone, which wasn’t a bad way to start out the day.

Then I was on the floor until almost 4, and I had the magical luck to get almost all of the big groups for the day – a 12, a 9, about 20 6s, and who knows what else.  I know I got my first 1 and 2 at the same time… at like 2.30 in the afternoon.

So, I made over $200 in tips today.  Even if I hadn’t had that 48 in the morning, I would’ve made about $175.

I biked home, and I’ve been mostly listening to Harry Potter on audiobook since then.  I had to stop when I started writing in here, mostly because I can’t really CONCENTRATE on anything else when I’m blogging.

I do have an appointment made to look over some houses with Pat on Tuesday.  I’m not sure how many we’re going to get to, because I have to work at 5, but I will be brining my work clothes along with me, just in case.  This will be exciting, mostly because I’ve never done this before.  I’m pumped.

Not that I’ll be done for the week, cause I’m SURE we’re not gonna settle one one of these houses tomorrow.  It just can’t be that easy.  Plus… I work pretty much every single day this week.  Monday through Wednesday, Friday and Saturday overnight.  I did work Thursday as well, but one of the girls at work normally worked at her other job that day, but had off and wanted more money.  I was all too willing to have a whole day off again.  I have Sunday off too, so that I can go to Vicki’s bridal shower, but it occurred to me that Nathan will have my car that day… and I don’t think I can walk to Germantown.

I miss Audrey.  And Tiff.  I haven’t seen Tiff in longer.  I’m gonna steal one of them sometime this week.

Nathan’s home 🙂
