Security Deposit Bullshit
So we finally got our security deposit back (4 weeks later than what the landlord told us) and they took $300 out for CLEANING!
What a crock of fucking shit. I spent 7 FULL DAYS cleaning that place from top to bottom. I steam cleaned all the carpets, I washed all the walls, I mopped all the floors and cleaned out all the appliances.
That place was in better condition when we LEFT than when we fuckin’ moved in.
He wanted to come and do an inspection before we moved out to give us an idea of what they look for– all 4 of the appointments we made with him for the inspection, he just didn’t show up. We’ve been communicating with him since we moved out about the security deposit and he told us everything was fine.
I’m sorry, but this is a bunch of bullshit and I have the pictures to prove it. I want that $300 back.
Random noter: It’s worth going to small claims court over if you have receipts for the carpet cleaner and photos of how it looked when you moved out. Written evidence of appointment dates he failed to keep for an exit inspection would be icing on the cake. Landlords get away with this because they know people are too busy to take them to court. They aren’t allowed to penalize you for normal wear and tear, either, but many do.

We have already discussed this, but like I said… I would take him to small claims court for putting yall through the bullshit.

OMG, sounds like you have a small lawsuit on your hands…But then again it might cost you more in filing fees than what it’s worth (depending on the county/state)…Sheesh what an ashole.

Wow! That’s a rip off, if you can I’d take his ass to court! That sounds like bullshit!

It all depends on how you feel about it. Like, do you want to be right or do you want to be happy? If you want to be right, then go ahead and sue them and get into a tangle like that , However, if you want to be HAPPY, say goodbye to the old place and begin your new life —-put it all in the past. You will be SO happy -even minus the money. Seriously, putting the past behind you is very refreshing, and rewarding. That’s just my opinion
