the other day i had some sort of life test i think

my dad called me and offered me a job in tucson, arizona DOING WHAT HE DOES essentially

some things about it:

-i only need to have a college degree for this so i am (about to be) qualified

-it would take months of training, which begins right after i graduate (which means no road trip with kyle)

-it requires sitting in front of the computer for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week

-i would be doing some horribly boring and unsatisfying work involving the examination of people’s medical records to determine whether they qualify for social security

-i would be getting paid $35,000 annually to start off with

so

naturally, it only took me about 5 minutes to decide that i didn’t want to do it

though the prospect of having a really well-paying full-time job right after school is fabulous, i think i would prefer death to the work content and the fact that i’d be wasting my life in front of a computer screen, making inherently meaningless decisions for other people

not to mention my father would be my boss, and he has always kind of subconsciously been the boss of my life

so i’m trying to stay away from that

and i think i’ll start with a part-time job once i graduate

or a volunteer job

on a farm somewhere in the mountains

ANYWAY

this weekend was the jackson family clan camping trip on the suwannee river

it was quite interesting this year

a baby walked through the firepit on some hot coals and had to go to the hospital

kyle’s grandma had a stroke

and when most of the family went on a float trip down the river, kyle’s dad got separated and was lost for like 12 hours on the river

that was actually kind of funny

because he is a survivor man and we had no doubt he was enjoying his alone time

they found him at like 9:30 at night and all he had was beer and light up sunglasses and a mickey mouse boat paddle hahaha

so kyle’s parents ended up staying the night in our tent

pati didn’t bring her ambien so she found a xanex from someone and we all smoked a bowl

during the tribal council ceremony i gave my feather to neil for essentially "not giving a shit" and partying out on the river for a full day

then we all packed up, everyone left and we drove to a nice spot on the river and parked and went swimming

precious even came right in without us trying to get her to!

it was adorable

then we drove home sleepy and unpacked and made sushi

now i am purchasing a pee funnel for bonnaroo so i don’t have to sit down on nasty port-a-potty toilets!!

pee funnel, good idea!! also, weirdly i was just thinking of you because it is really super sunny here in ireland and for some reason good weather reminds me of you! i sent your letter a few days ago. that is really good you rejected that job, it sounds hellish, also, that family camping trip sounds so much fun! i can’t imagine being like that around a partner’s family, it sounds so relaxed
