“Hello, Doctor.” “Good evening, Dave.”

I’ve made the comment on more than one occasion that Anthony Hopkins stated in an interview that he based the voice he used for Hannibal Lecter on HAL-9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey. I read this tidbit on Wikipedia and it’s still there, but due to everyone’s apparent need to hate on the information found on Wikipedia, I’m often met with snorts or replies of “bullshit.”

I’ve even gone so far as to encourage a few to watch the movies for themselves and see what I mean, to no avail.

Today, I’ve discovered a website that proves once and for all that the good Doctor sounds exactly like the malfunctioning machine and I’m putting it here for, if nothing else, personal vindication. Enjoy.

I can definitely hear it – especially in #5 on HAL-9000.
