If a star fell to earth, we would die.

About the book of Revelation, where a third of all stars fall to earth. This is not a scientific absurdity. Consider this: we read in Joshua chapter 10, we read about Joshua’s "long day", in which God made the sun "stand still". Now, of course the Earth revolves around the sun, so how could the sun "stand still?"

Answer: It really didn’t. Rather, the sun appeared to stand still in the sky. This is what Astronomers would deem "apparent motion". In reality, it’s the Earth that remained still, not the sun. Joshua was writing from his perspective of the sun in the sky, not from what scientifically actually happened. This is how John in the book of Revelation wrote about the stars falling from the sky.

In reality, the stars fell from their fixed position in space toward Earth, but to John, it would appear that they fell right from the sky. [California Christian] (emphasis mine)

All right, no I’m not saying that it’s scientifically absurd for 1/3 of the stars in the sky to fall to earth because of the "motion" or "apparent motion" of the stars "falling".

I’m talking about the much much larger issues that

1. a tail of a dragon could bring down any stars to earth

2. That STARS falling to earth means that SUNS…many many SUNS are flung to the earth. That means: end of the earth. Right there. Nothing else. It’s gone. It’s cooked. Toasted. The fact that the revelations continues to talk about the "earth" AFTER 1/3 of the stars in the sky have fallen to it, IS ABSURD.

There is no way around this… even one star being brought to earth by the tail of a dragon = earth swallowed by GIANT BALL OF FIRE.

Here here. Giant balls of fire=bad and irresponsible dragons that wantonly fling their tails about=bad. We’re all agreed. Now where’s the cheesecake?

Not necessarily. First of all, the God who created the Earth and stars could certainly prevent the world from being burned up and keep everyone on it safe. But also keep in mind that the book of Revelation is chock-full of symbolism. Unfortunately, I haven’t done enough research on Revelation to understand all of the symbolism. But I will certainly get back to you with anything further that I find
