It’s been too long

It has certainly been quite a long time since I’ve written an entry.

The past months have been full of adjusting to life outside of school.  Up until now it’s always been one class after another, punctuated by short winter and summer breaks.  But now it’s the "real world" with money that needs to be made, chores that need to be done, and life that needs to be lived.

In so living my life, I’ve also been adjusting to living with my boyfriend.  It’s been good.  There have been times when the adjustment has been hard, but on the whole, I’m doing well with this new part of my life.  Our living situation is improving every day, though there are still a few things left on the To Do list.

I’ve been contacted by someone from an employment agency saying they have a full-time temp-to-permanent job as an environmental lab technician.  If I am officially offered the job, it has more money, more benefits, and a more stable schedule than my current job at Disneyland.  Not to mention, working in a lab would be pretty interesting, even if it merely pH testing soil or identifying possibly toxic chemicals.  Gosh, it’s been a while since I’ve been in a chemistry lab though, so I’ll need some refreshers if I get the job.

In other news, I’ve been sick the past few days.  Some kind of stomach virus.  I haven’t thrown up, but my bowels have been stubbornly refusing to move, leading me to feel like I’ve just eaten a huge meal when all I had that day was a bowl of cereal.  Thankfully it’s starting to pass and I’m starting to finally feel hungry again.

I’ve been reading more Orson Scott Card.  I read Ender’s Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon.  I’ve also got copies of Xenocide, Children of the Mind, Shadow Puppets and Shadow of the Giant on the way.  I’ve quite enjoyed Ender’s Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon, though I have to say I liked the books about Ender more than the ones about Bean so far.  Still, they are good and I’m not sorry to have read them.  I’ve already finished rereading all of the Harry Potter books that are available in preparation for the final book coming out.  I may have to reread them one more time later on.

At least the excitement of a Harry Potter movie and a book coming out in July will counterbalance the annoyance at having to start paying off my student loans.

You work at Disney Land? How cool…. though I’m sure you’d differ from that opinion!
