Surprise visit

Well over the past few days I went on a trip to California.  I didn’t write about it here because it was meant as a surprise visit for someone’s birthday, and he reads my diary.  Obviously, mentioning it here before I left would have completely ruined the surprise.  As it turns out, he’s a smart and intuitive one, so he had a passing thought that it might happen anyway, but brushed it aside thinking it couldn’t.  So it was still a surprise for him.

I worked it out with his best friend.  She took him out to eat for his birthday and kept him here for a while until my plane landed and I was able to get to the restaurant.  The look on his face was great.  At first a blank stare like he had no idea who I was, and then the moment of realization.  I was afraid he’d be embarrassed about me showing up out of the blue, or weirded out by it, but I think he liked the surprise very much.  Unfortunately the next day I think I ate some whipped cream that gave me some really really bad  pains in my lower intestines.  I’m selectively allergic to some dairy products, such as whole milk.  It’s not lactose intolerance as I can drink loads of skim milk, and such.  I think it’s a lipid thing, because while I can drink a lot of skim milk, and eat cheese and yogurt, I get sick from whole milk.  I’ve also recently discovered I get sick from eating a lot of fatty ice cream.  I think now that I apparently get sick from real whipped cream, but not the store-bought canned stuff.  So we tried to do some stuff that day, but I was a major drag and was doubling over in pain at some points.  Great first impression for him.  Sigh.  I still had a great time with him, regardless.

The trip was the best time I’ve had in a very very long time.  He was everything I expected and more.  Totally worth the visit.  I only wish I could have stayed longer, but there’s always next time.  We’re already planning our next visit.  Hehe.

Besides the ultimate gift of finally getting to see Jules in flesh and blood form, I got pictures of the two of us, a dragon picture frame from his friends to put a picture of the two of us in, and a Dragonology book and bookmark from Jules when we went to Borders.  He also gave me a mardi gras style necklace and two of the pens he always uses, so I have some souvenirs of him now too.

We had been talking for a while, on the internet and on the phone and had come to the conclusion that we obviously share a connection and like each other very much.  The next step was to see if it was there in person.  Now that we’ve found out we definitely have a strong connection even in person, we are officially boyfriends.  Our anniversary is his birthday, and even though it’s a long distance relationship, we think we can make it work.  There’s the possibility that in a year it won’t be so long-distance, but I for one like Jules so much that I have to try to make it work despite the distance.  It’ll be hard, but we can make it work.

It was hard getting back on the plane.  I got teary eyed and was trying so hard to fight back the tears.  I hope I’m not too emotional.  He totally owns me.  In a good way.

Ooo, I can’t say I’m jealous of the long distance part, but it’s great that you’ve made that connection with somebody. I hope that it works out fantasically.

Oh, and you totally have to post the pictures! You can’t mention pictures and then not post a few samples!
