water go down the hooooole

During the summer, the office lets us out early, which is pretty cool for the weekend, but the payoff is we have to work more hours the other four days of the week, and end up scrambling to finish things and projects so we don’t have to stay late on Friday.

Today’s Friday was worth the early departure – the weather was nice and sunny, though a little humid. I stopped for lunch at a BK then went to find some Drano or something to unclog my bathroom sink. I ended up with Liquid Plumbr (the maximum strength stuff looked promising).

I poured the yellow-green stuff into the sink. It was a bit thick, like syrup. I was a little disappointed that the anti-clog syrup just kinda did nothing except fill up nearly half the sink. Sighing, I stopped pouring and recapped the bottle. Now what? I clogged the drain and now I have half a sink of Liquid Plumb just sitting there.

Then ever so slightly, I thought I saw the syrup move a fraction down the bowl. I leaned closer for a better look. Slowly, a small bubble began to emerge from the drain. I watched it escape, like a balloon in slow motion. After that, there were more bubbles. I watched as the drain seemed to slowly suck in the syrup. It was strangely fascinating. I never thought watching Liquid Plumbr work could be so fun.

After the Liquid Plumbr entertainment, I decided to take a dip in the pool. It was the perfect day for it, after all. However, I forgot that it rained the day before, so the water level of the pool had risen above the skimmers leaving a whole bunch of leaves floating. It was annoying, but I had to drain some of the water into the drain tank while I began fishing the leaves. I had gotten so into plucking leaves from the pool that I forgot to turn off the drain, so I ended up with a nice mini-swamp in the backyard. I think the rest of the afternoon was more like cleaning the pool with me happening to be in it. I didn’t dunk my head underwater this time. Somehow I think that was a good idea.

I always like to take a shower after taking a dip, whether it be in the ocean or the pool. I don’t know why; I guess I don’t like having dry skin and chlorine smell.

For some reason I have the urge to check the other drains in the house. Maybe I’ll clog them on purpose.

lol… it’s interesting how the smallest things can amuse us sometimes. What I wouldn’t give for a pool here today! Even if I was just fishing leaves out, it would be a welcome change of pace.
