Crooked Teeth

In anything, I can not be the best or worst.
In everything, I can not be the finest or foulest.
I can be neither the kindest nor cruelest,
The smartest or dumbest.

I can be bright, but I will pale in the sun.
I can be dark, but I will shine in the night.

I can not be the funniest clown, the cleverest comedian,
The quickest athlete, or the greediest businessman,
The skinniest waif or the brawniest brawler,
Or most elegant writer.

I can be this but not that,
These but never those.

My teeth are crooked, but I still have teeth.
It can hurt to smile, but I can take the pain.
The Earth spins, but I can still walk straight.
Between the tears, I remember to breathe.

I know wisdom, but respect foolishness.
I know heartache, but still it beats.
The ground can quake, but usually doesn’t.
I know how to forget, but choose to remember.

In the important, I must try my best, and love absolutely.
