Flood

As many of you know, I live in Atlanta.

I was in the middle of the floods.

I did NOT get flooded, although at least a dozen of my neighbors did.

My father, God rest his soul, taught me 2 important things about buying a house :

1) Never buy a house on a double yellow line, and
2) Do not buy a house in a flood plane.

My basement stayed dry as a bone; however, I did lose my internet for 8+ days.

I’m back.

Good stuff. 😉

Glad to have you back! Better yet, glad you’re ok. We bought property out in the boonies. With all the flooding this summer, and houses conspicuously on hills, we never did find out if our property got flooded. Hrm.

Glad to hear you are okay, and that you were smart about your home purchase! Brad and I very nearly bought a house that is literally just down the road from where we live now. You can actually see how the road slopes down, and that the house is lower than the rest on the same street. We walked through the house twice, but it wasn’t until the second time around that we looked through the history binder of the home, and noted that the basement had flooded at one point. A backup sump pump had been installed, but Brad was very nervous about it and we moved on to looking elsewhere. I was really disappointed because I LOVED that house. Particularly the lot, as it backed up into the Metroparks. We just found out over the summer that the house has flooded two or three times in the last year. Thank goodness Brad is more practical than I am!
