Tá sé fliuch.

I’ve been wanting to learn Irish. It’s just kind of this wild hare I had. I found a couple of sites online, but the best looking one cost $100 or so for a course and I wasn’t sure I wanted to commit that much to this wild hare! Then I saw an article on cnn.com about surprising things you can get for free, and one was language lessons off BBC’s website. So I’ve been poking around there. The lessons are conversation-based. I was actually looking for some grammar-type stuff. Who knows, maybe I will get off Irish and study Latin. Anyway for now I can say a few things like "How are you?"  (Cad é mar atá tú?) and "It is wet." (tá sé fliuch).

So yeah, it is raining again today.

I ordered Courtney another guitar book that came Tuesday. I’m teaching myself what I can too. I was doing ok on single notes but then I got to chords! My fingers are not as nimble as they used to be. I couldn’t get a C chord right. And my fingernails are too long. I’m going faster than she is, partly because I don’t care if I start any bad habits and also I can read music. I’m trying to make sure Courtney can read music and holds her fingers right, and doesn’t get confused between piano and guitar.

A fact I didn’t know: the fingers are numbered differently in guitar music than in piano music. Confused me until I figured it out.
