An expression I really hate is

You need to come out of your shell a little more. Really? Who the hell is anyone to tell me that? I am a naturally quiet person, not only that but I was raised by my parents to be quiet. Who is anybody to tell me that I need to talk more? I am a nice, quiet person who stays out of trouble and some how that is wrong? Then when I do talk, people pick everything I say apart and criticize me! I can’t win! I may never know why but for some reason I was a very nonverbal kid. Somehow I managed to overcome that entirely on my own accord. Didn’t these people I was forced to come into contact with ever think that maybe I will overcome it some day?  There is something to really be said for the way I learned to cope with my problems and disabilities on my own. Yet all I get is people saying that I’m not doing enough or to “Grow up”. I hate that expression also. People grow at all different rates. Gosh I could go on forever about the subject of annoying expressions I had to deal with as a kid with learning and social disabilities. There were people just as quiet as me and no one ever said anything to them! Well, not that I saw anyway.

Just ignore them, be who you are. If you don’t feel like talking and sharing then don’t.

I can relate. It’s funny because I grew up to work in a job in which social interaction is a constant. I still have my comfort zones that are very hard to step out of, though.

So maybe if you came out of your she…. No I can’t even as a lark. -hugs-
I say screw the people who’ve put their doubt or misperceptions on you.
And really I’ve never thought about it but that is a terribly presumptuous phrase.
