Novel Excerpt and Life Update
Dear Diary,
I’ve decided not to text Paul anymore. He is a nice guy but, I have absolutely no interest in him. He is smart, attractive, successful and I just am not turned on by him.
I’ve been texting with a guy named David; also a scientist. He seems pretty cool and this weekend, on saturday, I am either having breakfast or lunch with him. That will be interesting.
I left Len alone this whole weekend and beginning of the week, so i don’t appear needy. But, today is Wed and I text him, "Do you want to hang out this weekend?" I’m waiting on a reply about that and I sure hope he wants to 😀
I bought a daily planner 😀 Its a beautiful brown, the pages are a tan color, and the edges of the paper are outlined with shiny gold 🙂 I’ve been using it for the past day and today; trying to get into the habit of using it I should say. I wrote down what I want to do this week… a.k.a two pages of writing each day, and then I add in the text Len, or the get breakfast or lunch with David. Then, as I complete them, I give it a checkmark.
I also went into the future and counted the days, and marked the day I should be done with the first draft of my novel. We will find out how well that works 🙂 I’d like to get 100 typed pages. I have 10 pages typed (9,700 word count) so I am 10% complete. Not to shabby at all 🙂 Plus, with my second and third draft I am sure a couple pages will be added. As it turns out, 110,000 word count is considered an Epic. I would love to say I wrote an Epic!!! I decided I will post a public entry with my excerpt. I don’t think there is any harm in letting 3 paragraphs being read. Its part of the first draft and not edited but I think some people will still enjoy reading it 🙂 Once it is complete I will be sure to let everyone know 😀

Final Siren by The Writer

"She wanted to know his name. “Byron,” he replied. “My name is Byron Caster. I’m in relocation with the Roman navy, off duty until next week. A new fleet of ship is being deployed for India and I will be commander of one.” She raised her brow at his statement, for, he seemed too young to be a commander; around her age of nineteen. “Walk with me, Sarah? Tell me a little about your home; this island?” She had almost forgotten her lie to him, when he mentioned her name being Sarah, and regretted it, but, agreed to walk him along the coast for a while. “Perfect! I’m ready now, of course, if you are free.” She nodded her head and they walked to the southeast beaches of Capri. Being extremely nervous, Assyria didn’t say much along the walk to the shore, and, Byron, sensing her discontent, issued small talk about his sea travels. A whale, only months before, breached next to his ship and landed against it causing great panic among the crew; as they all believed it was a bad omen. Assyria wasn’t sure if she believed his story, but, she laughed, all the same, with a flirty voice.
Arriving on the beach, Assyria and Byron searched for shells to string her a necklace. He adored her neckline, long and beautiful, perfect, luscious enough for any predator, awaiting a token of his love made with his hands. The seashells had to be of utmost perfection and flawless; exactly how he saw his infatuation. They walked for hours, keeping one eye on each other, one eye searching for shells, and only collecting but a small handful of worthiness; the worthless being rejected and remained imbedded within the sand. She liked the attention from a man who didn’t know anything about her, wasn’t expecting favors, thus, feeling real. Could this be the feeling of love? She felt untouchably present, past and future were non-existent, while their souls danced among each other, around their bodies, along the sea in their ethereal dimension which no mortal could ever see nor enter, causing disruption with fate. It was fate’s declaration they were to meet. Nothing felt more complete, right.
The walk on the beach eventually came to an end when the sun began to bow before the moon, rising high in the sky, and welcoming the sacred night; along with all its secrets. Assyria knew she had to end the date, soon, to begin work at the brothel; Jovis had killed her father and damn her soul if she could witness Byron’s murder. She began to speak, soft in the eyes, slight sadness, slight desire, telling him she must depart for the evening. “So soon,” he replied? “I’ve not known you a day, a mere second of a lifetime.” She blushed with passion, feeling the strange thought of loving this man, a stranger. In less than a day, he gave her more joy than she ever received in a lifetime. She was alone with him, without feeling lonely, and felt at home, not in a building, but next to his presence. It was a sharp pain that struck her heart as she walked away from him, heading to a secret betrayal; an embarrassing secret she would never reveal to him and feared him gaining intellect from common existence. Maybe this time her dreams, rather than fears, would come true. He grabbed her hand, knelt upon his right knee, and kissed the dorsal of her hand with lips yearning to be touching her mouth. Her eyes closed. She turned around and walked to her uncle’s brothel."
