I need answers
I came across this in a listserv post, and I thought it would be a good exercise to try to answer them.
- What do I believe about God? Who do I believe God is? How have I experienced God in my life (and especially in a rhythm of life that includes prayer, study, service, and fellowship)?
- What do I believe about Jesus and what he accomplished in his teaching, healing, breaking bread with all comers, as well as his death on the cross and his resurrection by the God of Israel, Isaac, Jacob, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah?
- How do I understand the content of Christian tradition? How do I read biblical texts? (Or really DO I read biblical texts?) And how do I deal with it when my reading of something important differs with what others think?
- Why would anyone want to be Christian? How could that lead to a fulfilling life for someone?
- Why do I attend church every Sunday instead of staying at home for a leisurely time with family and Sunday NY Times – or instead of any other use of a "free" morning?
