Home

Tonight, I left work on time and came straight home.

I made a grocery list, and counselled my roommate on the potential rejection-email he had just received from his significant female.

I then left for the grocery store, buying frozen fruit for breakfast beverages, hamburger and buns for tonight’s dinner, and eggs, milk, onions…the basics (and Cocoa-Puffs — a treat, for me).

Returning home, I set in immediately to make dinner for myself and Jared, as he needed to eat quickly before heading over to significant female’s home to try to clear things up. I made a pound of manwhichy sloppy-joes (from scratch, not from a can), using all the ketchup we have in the house.

While it simmered, I began working on “Chocolate Revel Bars” as the recipie calls it, but what I know as “Fudge Jumbles” as Betty Crocker called them when they marketed them in the mid-eighties. The Revel Bars recipie gets it close, but not quite right. There’s something wrong with the fudge on top.

The recipie actually makes what my family uses for hot fudge on ice cream (a family secret, and its awesome!). The commercial mix had a more brownie-like result on top. So this time, I added a half-cup of flour to the fudge mixture.

They are cooling right now.

After putting these into the oven, I sat down and ate a couple of sloppy-joes while tending to my eHarmony connections. Then, while nursing the Revel Bars through a few extra minutes in the oven, I unloaded the dishwasher and presoaked my baking dishes.

Now, at 9:30, I am typing in my journal. I plan to blow things up for an hour or so when finished, then pop an Aleve for my shoulder, and don a heat-pad as I go to bed (yes, I know, no more than 20 minutes. Don’t fall asleep with it on…thanks).

Its nice to be home.

A man who likes to cook and cooks good things…are you for real? And, just for the record, Cocoa-Puffs are not a treat–they are a dietary staple. So let it be known, so let it be written, and so sayeth The Goomba. Huzzah!
