An answer for NASA

I had to read this story, about a woman sueing NASA because a stellar experiment has altered her horoscope.

This case won’t go very far. I can hear the defense attorney now:

“Did you know, two months ago, that we would be having this hearing, this trial, right here, right now, today?”

“No.”

“Did anyone predict that we would be? Did you have any belief that we might be?”

“Maybe.”

“Did anyone anywhere predict that we would be here, now?”

“I’m sure there were some who guessed that we would be, yes.”

“Alright. And here we are, having trial. From a temporal perspective, this has always been the case, yes? There was a trial right here right now.. there has been this trial, right here right now, always, hasn’t it? If that weren’t the case, it simply would not be occuring.”

“Well…”

“Is time travel possible? I know you’re not an expert, so lets use Hawking’s thesis that ‘the best evidence we have that time travel is not possible is that we are not now and never have been overrun by tourists from the future’. This says time travel is not possible.

So there is no way to go back and modify the past, from a future perspective. So there also must not be a way to alter the future, from a present perspective. Would you agree?”

“Well, yes, I guess.”

“Then, this trial today has always happened, as has NASA’s experiment. If there’s any fault now or in the future with your horoscope, the fault lies with the quality of the prediction, not NASA.”

Or something like that.

LOL I saw that article too … what a classic. Thank MoNat for a litigious society. At least the up side is there will always be someone to shake the head and chuckle at. Never ceases to amaze me how far people will go for a try at easy bucks.

LOL! You’re too much.

Just had to come back to damn you for getting my head going on the possibilities of alternate dimensionality and time travel. The potential for odd universal rules that make time shifts possible but only in skewed and bizarre ways. The notion that time says I was always going to come back here and write this note at this moment. Bloody NASA. Thats twice today ;o)

RYN: I agree with you, that’s why i have made the decision to expect things from God and not from my family and friends. I’m happy to find out that you are also a believer. Thanks for your comments!

Oh you have got to be kidding me. If she was such a fortune teller, she should have seen this coming. Bahaha. Peace,Monica
