New Year

Some things never change.

Its early January. I am in the midst of Seasonal Affected Recovery. I have more energy available, but not much, and I fight the social contacts which drain it, hoarding more for myself.

I am not yet responding to email. Not participating in eHarmony, not even to the minimal effort of updating my profile to reflect that fact. And, its been cloudy, grey skies. For the majority of the week.

There is a new woman at my office. Just came out of the carton. Seriously, her name is April, and she is one of those enigmas who can completely fry all my rational circuitry. She’s magic. So far, she seems to be most of the things I want in a partner – the most important of which is that we enjoy each other’s company: we make a good team. Unfortunately, I took her to lunch (specifically as a date, not errand running lunches which we’ve had several of in just the past month) where she tells me all about her Prince Charming, a former NFL Pro turned technology entrepreneur. He’s talking marriage, and she’s listening, but is hesitant because of his knack for not making time for her. I am just that “friend” guy.

Sucks to be me, still.

The good news is, I know this blazae – I can’t freaking spell today – aire will pass soon enough. I’m alive. I have friends, family who love me, a comfortable abode, enough food to be fat, and a job with livable pay.
