The myth of safety, anywhere, anytime (2)
We live in a free society. It is fundamental to our way of life in the United States, and our Founders organized our government this way because they believed it fundamental to all human life. That all people are created equal, and have certain unsupressable rights inherent to being human: the right to pursue happiness, the right to choose, and the right to grow.
Not just a right to grow, but an imperative to grow. That growth and being a human are inseperable. And not just a right to choose, but that choice in all things human are the essence of being human. So that even in other countries, people must live free or die.
Why?
Because growth is an inherently painful and risky process, and that growth is an inherent part of being alive. So we must accept that on any given day there may be a semi with no brakes, a salad with a bug in it, an airliner flown into a building, or a man with a rifle in the bushes.
Why?
Because of people. Because of their choices.
Not because of any human law, or lack thereof.
Not because of any “security device”, or weakness therein.
Not because these are the times that we live in.
But because these are the times we have always lived in.
But because people still choose to respond poorly to risk.
But because people still choose deception over truth.
Why?
Because you have a choice. A choice between Good and Evil. Truth over Deception. Love over Despair. And there’s not one thing you can do to change the world unless you first make the choice to change in yourself.
Somebody with a gun didn’t make your world unsafe.
Somebody who chose Evil has woke you up to the truth of your world.
Why?
Because you, and you alone decide how you will respond to truth.
Choose LIFE. Choose Truth. Choose Good. Choose God. Choose CHRIST.
