Weekend Update (2)
(cont’d)
When we got back to my place, we opted to take a nap. It was still a drizzly day – the kind of day naps were made for. We ended up spending most of the day sleeping. We got up around 8pm, and I continued the driving tour – including my favorite railroad bridge – before she offered to buy me dinner as well.
We wandered to the west side of town and found a new nouveux style restaurant. After much deliberation over their exotic menu, we decided to split a peanut chicken salad with soba noodles as our entre, plus Ahi Tuna with a wasabi sauce, and fried calamari. For dessert, we split a sizzling bread pudding.
From there, we came back to my apartment, traded cars, and went to my auxillary office to fix her iMac. This proceeded to take much longer than expected, and still wiped out from staying up so late before, and now again, we aborted it and went back to get sleep.
She planned on leaving Sunday morning around 9…which is when we woke up. She packed while I was in the shower, and we went back to my aux office to finish the iMac…which took hours longer than it should have, due to a slow internet connection.
At around 6pm, we loaded up her car and said our goodbyes. I loaded up my laundry and headed out to my folks. There, some friends of the folks were playing cards, and I was in a laid back mood. Mom managed to spoil that for going off about some towel someplace that I supposedly wiped blueberry goo on after she sprayed me with it while blending a drink. It just put a damper on the whole evening, and my mood especially, despite still maintaining esprit d’corps.
Around midnight, after watching both Jurassic Park II, and Pleasantville on cable (while doing laundry, of course) and talking Nightingale to sleep after an impossibly hard weekend for her, I drove home to my once again quiet apartment and enjoyed the mild evening breeze and lots of good sleep.
I was IMing with Jill while writing this tonight, and explained the following to her…
“intense companionship” – I like, even need, a regular companion. You’ll notice that even when you and I talk (I mean “talk”) its one-on-one. I need that, and it feels good when its met. So here, I had someone to hang with all day for 3 days. We were really only apart when sleeping. That was neat, but exhausting. I am an introvert, and need alone time to recharge. *smile, sigh* I am still kinda worn out from just the company. But, it was just a few days, and yeah, she was fun. She fed me like a king – said it made up for the money she saved on a hotel.
