It happened again!!

So, last night, Sunday night… Sunday noon I went to Red Lobster with my folks after church, and then we all went to Barnes & Noble. These Sunday trips to B&N I usually spend in the periodicals, but I knew I would buy the latest issue of Backpacker if I did, and I was feeling too schmaltzy or something to surf self-help books, so I floated back to music and sampled CDs.

There’s a new AfroCelt Sound System, Vol. 3, which I simply must have. Peter Gabriel is guest vocals…very nice.

Anyway, from there I went to get gas, and was going to go to Target and get a new shower curtain and some TP, then swing by Hollywood/Blockbuster and rent a DVD…but no, this is when at the gas station that I picked up the guy and took him to College town.

Okay, so that was the first time. I got back to town, hit the Hollywood on my side of town, and went to my auxillary office, where I watched the DVD and ate chocolate chip cookie dough. (the stuff in the tubes isn’t as good as homemade, but it will suffice. Prepare by cooking before consuming. Yeah, right!) “3000 miles to Graceland” is going on my “must buy” list.

Anyway, so after watching the video, I logged on and sent some email and tried to do OD, which was still full. I IMed with a friend for a bit, but really wanted to get home and clean while the evening was still nice. After all, I was at least an hour behind schedule because of the run to College Town.

Well, there’s a BurgerKing just a block from my apartment, and I whiped in to grab a burger to kill the cookie dough. *g* As I am pulling out of the drive thru, there are two guys on the curb, obviously soused. They stop me to ask “Xcuse me, but – could yooo give us aride just four blocks away?”

You just need a ride? What, no hand out? They even offered me some of the gallon of whisky he had in his bag. “Sure. Let me move some things” So I cleared the drive thru and made room in my back seat for them. They got in and I drove them to an apartment 4 blocks away. They guy said he had just moved in – maybe he did – but he was just too drunk to find his way around at any rate. In fact, I think he approached me in the spring asking for directions back to his home, but at that time, he couldn’t tell me where he lived, so I had no idea what direction to point him in.

Anyway, TWICE in one day. God is sending me a message, methinnks.

Very interesting. Being a young woman, those kinds of situations make me uncomfortable, but I always feel terrible to say no. Its liek passing people on the side of the road… I always think about what took them to that point, and why didnt i help them? Its just not safe tho….

i rented 3000 miles to graceland this weekend too. i liked it, a little bit of overkill, but still, pretty good
