Welcome to the country

She loves the house they live in. That being said this time of year is the worst. The smells emanating from the fields is ungodly. The bugs are unruly. Rodents everywhere. She was greeted by a possum stuck in her trashcan first thing in the morning yesterday. This is when she misses apartment living. The yardwork is insane. She thinks it is worth it most days, but already has a tick bite this year.

Country sucks. City or bust!

Country living isn’t for the weak. 😄

We’re at a happy medium. We have an acre of land, but we’re in a neighborhood.

I love country living! I grew up in suburbs and then lived in a huge apartment complex in the city. I hated the city. Due to my husband’s job, we moved to a VERY rural area…. closest stores and restaurants are 30 minutes away, and our town has a population of 350. But I absolutely love it. The bugs and rodents are annoying. I got those sonic repeller things that plug into the wall, and it helps.

But we’ve had some family and friends visit who are super uncomfortable with how isolated we are. We had a family member who lives in Chicago visit us, and she actually felt really anxious. So I can see how some people would hate the rural life.

Tick bites can be serious though. My friend has chronic Lyme because she ignored a tick bite. I check for ticks whenever we’re outside in tick season, but I still got a bite last year. I ended up demanding prophylactic treatment. If you want more information, I can give you some.
