On The Hunt

I’m buying a new camera today. I had a polaroid i553 or something like that….and let me tell you, NEVER buy that camera.

It seems all cute and awesome…but no. It is apparently notorious for breaking fairly soon after buying. The lens breaks and comes off it’s little track and kills the entire camera and polaroid is a pain about fixing it/replacing it.

So….buying a new one. And let me just tell you I’m in LOOOOVE with yahoo’s product review stuff…they have a side by side comparison with more information on a camera than I knew existed…PLUS the user reviews which I feel are fairly accurate. Especially considering the ones about my freaking camera were DEAD ON. Wish I’d found this sooner.

I’m looking at primarily a Kodak Easyshare M853 or the Sony Cyber Shot….probably the pink one of that.

Other good reviews were on Casio, Panasonic, and Olympus.

I’m looking for one with decent zoom, and something that takes relativly decent indoor pictures…like in a low-light setting. I’ve never actually FOUND a camera that will take a good picture say at an indoor graduation, sporting event, or other indoor arena type event. They all come out dark/grainy/crappy. Anyone know of a camera that doesn’t suck in indoor event type settings?? Anyone else know of this grainly/crap problem I speak of??

Anyway. Trying to quiet the stomach today…just chill and get ready for the beach. It looks to be sunny and mid 70’s the entire time we’re there so that rocks. I got some seriously adorable hats at Target yesterday….I mean freaking CUTE.

If I get a working camera I’ve got a TON of old pics that need to get posted so maybe I’ll do that tomorrow or tonight.

Other than that, gotta clean the apt tonight and call my cousin about cat sitting. Gotta do laundry and pack and all that jazz. Tonight I’m going to try and squeeze in a half hour to run to grandmas and give her her early mother’s day present since I won’t be here on Mother’s Day.

Well…I’m going to go back to camera hunting. If anyone knows of a good camera that’s under say….250 bucks….lemme know.

PEACE!!!

Oh, and I got an A in one of my classes for the semester…waiting on the other two.

And…

Got that but with blue stripes yesterday.

And that.

And I really wanted this…

And I’m done now.

i have a kodak easy share and i love it..the indoor pictures are really hit and miss unfortunately, but any pics you see of mine they were taken with the easyshare

I had an Easyshare at one point, but it was total crap. Not to say that the new ones are, but mine was awful. It’s been a few years ago. Yay for beach and cute stuff!

Cyber Shot. I’ve had mine for 3 years and it still takes beautiful photos. And Sarah’s new one is fantabulous as well. The reason why you get grainy indoor photos is because of the megapixels, coupled with the zoom, as well as the built in light meter that you have no control over. Unfortunately, point and shoot cameras will always be lacking because the lenses are just so small, the way that the cameras work means can’t get all the detail you want. The only advice I have is using the infinity setting on your camera (usually a mountain symbol on newer cameras) and don’t zoom in all the way if you’re at a graduation. It never works. You’d need an SLR camera for that…and they’re about $800. Long story short…it’s all about the lenses…and point and shoots just don’t have lenses that work well in the settings you’re talking about.

I do know of the graininess that was an unwelcome guest at both my graduations. My parents had really good seats for both of them, and their pictures still turned out really grainy. I have a Kodak EasyShare Z1275, and it takes great pictures and has a great optical zoom, but I’ve never tried taking arena pictures. I’ve taken pictures in very low-light, though, and the flash is PERFECT for that.

RYN: Screwtape Letters! I have that one, too, and read it all in one sitting. It was great. It is about an apprentice devil tempting this guy, and he writes back and forth to his teacher. It is both entertaining and thought-provoking.
