Spring, uterus and others

Yesterday, spring officially began. Ollvy and I went to Santa Monica to see the beach and to also stroll around the mall and the Third Street Promenade. It somehow didn’t feel like spring is already here because it was cold, the temperature being in the 50’s with chilly winds. And it was gloomy and raining a bit that morning. Luckily, by the time we got there, the sun was out and shining in spite of the chilly breeze. It was nice to finally see the beach. I haven’t been to one in a long time now, even when I was still in the Philippines. I couldn’t even remember the last time I soaked myself in a natural body of water.

Santa Monica is a really nice upscale place. Along our way, Ollvy took the Sunset Boulevard route. She wanted to show me the way to her college alma matter, Mount Saint Mary’s College. We passed the town of Brentwood, which I find really nice. The set-up of the houses is like Beverly Hills. It’s really a place for the rich people. I think Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner live there. I kind of fell in love with the houses and the place, it was all just wonderful. The houses looked like the ones in catalouges and in pleasant movies. There were a lot of trees, palms and anything green along the streets and each house has its own style when it comes to landscape and home structure. Everywhere I look, from the left houses to the right houses from the street, I just kept saying "Wow." Not only do they have beautiful houses in a wonderful neighborhood, the area is also close to the beach. And near the beach are just a ton of different restaurants, bars and shops. What a wonderful place! It made me have another dream home.

We had a little shopping at the mall before we headed out to see the beach. We went to Forever 21 and Wet Seal, and the only thing I bought was this white spaghetti top with magenta linings and flowery prints. It’s very girlish, and sometimes I can also be some sort of girlish. 🙂

Near the beach, there were a lot of people jogging, walking their dogs and biking. It was a nice sunny afternoon. We also saw the Santa Monica Pier which is like a little fair, with a ferris wheel, a mini roller coaster and other games where one can most probably win and bring home a teddy bear. I can’t help but really miss Flip during those moments. Just seeing the beach, the people walking along the seashore, the Pier and everything…I wish we’re together, just spending time with each other in this nice place. *sigh* Ollvy and I took some pics and a video, and she asked me about "Flip and I" stuff which made me miss him even more. We didn’t go down to the beach and the Pier because it was cold. Just seeing them was already enough for me at that time. I know I’m coming back there someday soon. 🙂

We then stroll around the Third Street Promenade, which was full of nice shops. It’s also where the show "10 Years Younger" on TLC is shot.

Ollvy was kind enough to treat me for a dinner (because she said I passed the driving test!) at this Italian place, which I forgot the name because it’s in Italian and we don’t understand what it means. *hehe* It was nice inside the restaurant. It felt cozy and really very Italian, with Italian music, and the walls were full of picture frames of Italian food and people. We were sat at this area where the ceiling is entirely covered with empty wine bottles and there were vines hanging around. It’s really beautiful if you see it. Anyway, the dinner was nice and big! We barely consumed half of the seafood pasta we ordered because the serving was really big. I had an Apple Bay Breeze for a drink which is an alcoholic drink, but I can barely taste the alcohol because of the apple juice with a tinge of pineapple and orange juices. After dinner we headed home. Ollvy drove me to the apartment and we called it a night.

When I went home, I was surprised because we had a new TV in the living room! My parents bought a new one and transfered the previous TV to my room! It’s nice to finally have my own TV in my room. I can’t help but miss my room in our home in the Philippines, where I can watch TV and be on the computer at the same time, back in my high school days. 🙂

As for today, I spent it pretty much in bed due to dysmenorrhea. The pain was just the worse of the worse of the previous pains I had. I just wanted to dig in and take out my uterus. I could barely eat because I felt nauseous. My parents gave me Tylenol. Thank Heavens for Tylenol because as soon as I took a tablet, I felt sleepy and the pain was subsiding. It really made me sleep deep for about an hour and a half and by the time I woke up, the pain was already gone. I just felt really uncomfortable of the cramps, but that’s a whole lot better than the unbearable pain. And just now after studying my Blood Banking notes and watching Grey’s Anatomy, my uterus seems to be out to get me again. Maybe another Tylenol for the pain would do for tonight.
