We started off with Thom Yorke Has Been In One Too Many Car Accidents (which is called Thom Yorke on our myspace page because the title is too long to fit) and then we played Covenant which is also on our myspace page, then Invisibo, which we’re about to post a video of it on YouTube and link it on our myspace page sometime this weekend, and we Closed with The Revenge of John Redcorn (Vaya Con Dios). During Invisibo, I introduced the band and we said some funny stuff, and during one part in John Redcorn where I’m jamming on the bassline and Joey was playing behind his head, Joe (the drummer) hopped up and tossed free t-shirts and pez dispensers out into the crowd. We had a middle-sized audience but we totally brought it musically and entertainingly. I don’t think entertainingly is a word….

Now I think Quiet Company wasn’t as good as a 7.29.  The definitely deserve a 7.14 in originality though.  Also everyone I talked to including some of the other bands thought that Quiet Company was way too loud, and generally no one I know liked them.  They DID however bring in the largest crowd and I think that affected their score a lot.  I’m pretty sure we got a better crowd response than 5.43, too.  Everyone in the crowd genuinely liked us and they went out of their way to tell us too.  Though we didn’t win this time, we did make lots of good friends with good bands like The Boxing Lesson and ATPR (As The Phoenix Rises), and Manhands.  Hopefully we can form some out of town gig alliances with them.  As the guitarist for The Boxing Lesson said, I’m pretty sure they had the winner (Leaving July) picked the whole time, and I agree that they put on a great show and got a better crowd response than us, but amazingly they only brought in 8 more people.  Leaving July is friends with Firekills and they’re a good band, and they also match the style of the other 2 bands on the compilation CD very well.  the scoring system was probably concocted to rate the other 9 bands.  I think we easily could have won 2nd if we had as many people through the door as Quiet Company..  Anyway.  We got their attention.  We rocked out like you wouldn’t believe.  we EARNED 3rd place.  We got their attention.  now we play the waiting game for the next Buzz Oven event in Austin.  I think we can nail it next time.  And to all you motherfuckers we gave tickets to that DIDN’T show up… yeah you bastards know who you are… the mexican mafia is coming to collect payment.  You owe us.

Hey, I was wondering how things went this weekend, tried to email and ask but my phone internet doesn’t like aol. So does this mean you guys get a few songs on the CD? I had told Nelle I might be down this weekend but then had to decide… pay car insurance or go to Austin… StateFarm wins again. Ah well, maybe next time.
