I want to be evicted
So last Friday I had to leave the house and get a hotel cause it was getting moldy. I called the health inspector so I would have legal documentation that it was necessary for me to leave. My landlord called me and screamed at me for ten minutes. However, she did send someone over to look at the ceiling and flooded areas that night.
So the room is mostly fixed…except she told the handyman not to insulate the ceiling, which means that all the heat is escaping from my room and right up out of the crawl space, and she lied to the health inspector and the handyman by telling them that I had turned the heat off upstairs because I wasn’t home and that is why the pipes froze and burst. When I confronted her about it she said, "What’s the difference?" And I said…well that would mean that I was legally responsible for paying for the damages. And then she said…well technically it is your fault, the heat wasn’t on high enough for the pipes not to freeze, so you are lucky that I am being nice and paying for the damages.
Excuse me?!!! I can’t remeber the last time I was that furious! I had returned home over a week before the pipes froze. Even when I was gone the temp in the house was set at 60 degrees F. And the first plumber she sent over who wanted to fix things properly told me that the pipes froze because they weren’t insulated.
I really, really wish she would just evict me. It’s not like I need to live here anymore. I will be in Ghana until the middle of April, at which point I only have three weeks of classes left. I could certainly commute from BW’s those two days a week. However, I can’t just break my 1/3 of the lease because then my other two room mates would have to pay the difference.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I sorry.
