huh? JUNIOR bridesmaid?

So, I am a bridemaid twice in the fall. Yay, yipee. You know it’s really not that big of an honor. You have all of these reponsibilities and things which will cost a bunch of money indeed. It’s even more a crap shoot when you’re called a Junior Bridesmaid.

Like most people I had no idea what a junior bridemaid was. Of course I knew that it was a lesser role of some sort. Not as important as the bridemaid, because silly you’re a JUNIOR bridesmaid. upon doing a google search I found this definition:

A girl (typically aged 9 to 14) who is too old to be a flower girl and too young to be a full-fledged bridesmaid can join up as a junior bridesmaid. Younger members of the bridal party often treat their roles with great seriousness and love to get in on the action.

Okay. So should I be insulted? I mean it makes sense that I’m ot the maid of honor or anything very serious because of the distance between us and the fact that we haven’t really kept in touchthat well since the end of high school. BUT HELLO! a JUNIOR bridesmaid. I’m choosing to not be upset. Or at least attempting to make that choice.

I know it wasn’t inteneded as a slight towards me. It was probably just not knowing the definition of the term. I am one of the youngest members of the bridal party (yes at 22). But I’m also the same age as the bride. Maybe I’d better straighten her out before I send the deposit for my dress. eek.

I would be insulted too, but I really don’t think it was meant as a slight in any way. What I would do in that situation is let her know, but do it in kind of a funny way. ‘Course, that’s my typical reaction in most situations, though.
