First Day of Classes
I suppose it’s that time of year again- back to school for everyone. I kind of start my classes tomorrow. I have a big welcome thing and have to go to one of my classes- and then my real classes start Wednesday, which isn’t too bad I guess.
So August was a really busy month for me. We moved back from Halifax, as my last entry talks about. My friend and his gf came down from MB for some time, I have to come to Ottawa to find a place and then had to actually move here. I also helped move my sister into her res in Sudbury. It feels like all I’ve done all month is go go and go some more. I really need a rest- but no time yet! Now it’s time for classes…yay?
I also realised this month that I really REALLY dislike my parents. First off, my Dad said he would be moving me into Ottawa with all of my stuff. Yay. I didn’t think there was any problem until last week he told me that he has to work (at the bar) all weekend and wouldn’t do it anymore. So then my Mom said she would- only to drop out as well at the very last minute. Thankfully Krys and her mom could do it- so they moved me in yesterday.
I don’t think I would be so angry if these kinds of things didn’t happen all of the freaking time. My Dad has always been too busy for any of us- always working b/c my parents suck at budgeting and spoil my younger siblings- it’s really only gotten worse since the separation. And my Mom drove to Wawa to drop my sister off at the park in June, and then picked her up again at the end of August. And then, instead of telling my sister to just take the bus from Wawa to Sudbury (where my sister is going to school), my Mom picked her up, drove through Sudbury to get back to Wasaga Beach and then the next day drove back to Sudbury to drop her off. Wasaga to Sudbury is about a 4 hr drive one way. So that was ok…but then my mom met some guy on the internet, wouldn’t pick me up from Peterborough or anywhere in between Peterborough and Wasaga- spent a few days at this guy’s house and then wanted me to pick her up- and then she was too tired to drive me to school. I’m not really explaining it very well. Essentially, my mom drove all over the province for my sister ad herself but couldn’t be bothered to drive me to Uni. Thanks mom. Glad you care. Oh, and not once did my parents ever offer to drive me to Wawa or pay for some or all of my bus tickets- 5 years worth of work in Wawa- I got nothing from my parents. Thanks guys. Ass’!
So here I am in Ottawa- luckily my room came with a bed and dresser. Now I just need to get a desk of some sort. Hopefully I can find something soon. Sitting on a bed isn’t overly comfortable. We got wireless internet today- whoot!
I used today to get my OSAP dealt with, and pick up my student card and transit pass. So far, everything is coming together nicely. Tomorrow is that orientation day and then it’s into real classes. YAY! Only 8 months until I am a certified teacher in Ontario!! I also took 2 tours of Parliament Hill, had lunch at the Rideau Centre, and walked around downtown a little. Good times fo sho!
Where I am living doesn’t seem too bad. It’s on a lot of different transit routes, there’s a mall and stores a few blocks down, and the neighbourhood doesn’t seem too sketchy, so bonus!
