It’s….THE SWINE!!!

I’ve come to the conclusion that there is alot of hype and mass hysteria over the swine flu, or H1N1.
Understandably, people are worried because young, healthy people have been falling victim to it.  But it just seems that things are way too out of control. While people will die from it, as people have, it’s not going to kill humanity. Humanity has survived the Spanish Flu, Avian Flu, SARS, the Bubonic Plague, and many, many other plagues, and viruses; and we will survive this one.

So now we have a vaccination against it, or so we think we do. I’m not really into conspiracy theories, but this vaccination is kind of creepy. it has not been properly tested for side effects or anything else. It does protect against the Swine, but what if it leaves your immune system to much greater threats, such as HIV/AIDS, or other STIs? Maybe that’s a little extreme, but we just don’t know.

And now there is going to be a shortage because of a slight change in the vaccination. And now people who are not at high risk cannot get the vaccination for another week or so. Now, I understand how the elderly and health care workers and the 4 other categories are high risk, but the Swine is taking out healthy, young people. A boy of 13 just died of it last week. How am I, a healthy, young person, not high risk? Isn’t anyone high risk then? So how can the government discriminate against people when the Swine is taking out everyone and anyone is at risk of falling ill and dying. There is alot of back stepping, contradictions, and mass hysteria over this.

So I don’t think I will be getting the vaccination. By the time I get it, and when it takes effect, it will be useless. I have never gotten the flu shot in the past and I have been fine. Humanity will survive and go on. There will be deaths along the way, but what about all of the deaths, daily, from HIV/AIDS? or hunger? or dehydration? or water born diseases? or any of the other issues with the world today? We don’t give a crap about them but as soon as something hits close to home and takes out a few people, we go into a massive panic. It would be nice if we went into a massive panic over these issues and saved the millions of lives of those children, mothers, and fathers. Oh wait- they aren’t our friends or American or Canadian or European…

If we aren’t willing to save our fellow human beings, then we should not be willing to save ourselves- we do not have the ethical or moral authority to save ourselves when we lack the willpower and desire to help our neighbours.
