Thanksgiving
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, all!
So I think I should explain the difference between Canadian and American Thanksgivings. The American Thanksgiving is based on the Pilgrims, Mayflower, Plymouth Rock, the Natives, and that whole story- very nice.
Canadian Thanksgiving is actually a purely religious holiday. Back in the 1940s and 1950s there was a Declaration by the Canadian Parliament that basically said that Thanksgiving will be held on the second Monday of October to "Give thanks to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada is blessed." So, as news to me, this is a religious holiday to be thankful for our harvest, and not really based on biblical significance, as Christmas and Easter are. So on that note, Happy Thanksgiving!
So far it’s been a good weekend. Friday night I sat around and just relaxed. I really needed it. Lea-Ann (sister) and I watched a movie. Scratch that. I TRIED to watch a movie, but I passed out after like 15 minutes haha. Yesterday I got together with some high school friends. It was really nice. We went for lunch, and then Holly and I hung out all afternoon until 1130 pm. It was really nice to catch up with them all and reconnect with my friends.
I like talking with all of them because I find I have a different connection with all of them, then I do with my university friends and Krys and such. It’s a nice variety that I have.
Today I am not doing much. Might be driving to Guelph to pick up my younger brother from his girlfriend’s place and then back here…only to drive back tomorrow!! YAY! haha. Oh well. Looks like I can’t get away from it all. It’s not that bad.
Well, I am off. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! I like the basis of our Thanksgiving better 🙂
