Acting Bug

It has been almost three years since I’ve done any acting outside of musical theatre or opera. While I love both, I deeply miss just straight acting without having to worry about pitches and dance moves. In the rush of all the theatrics deep characterization can sometimes take a back seat. I know that if I was really, really good I’d have it all together, singing, dancing and acting all at %100, but sometimes it doesn’t happen. I miss the singular focus of acting. All my energy poured into pretending to be someone else and making everyone believe in that character’s story.

I may yet have my chance! I might possibly be helping with a workshop of opera scenes, and incorporating their original literary texts in short acting performances. I am DYING to do some Shakespeare! I hope, hope, hope! We’ll see how all this turns out.
