It’s almost here!
I leave for London in 13 days! I can’t believe it. May was the longest month of my life, and now June is the shortest. A couple days ago I realized how little time I have left. But I’m glad I took time to relax because I really needed it. I’ve still been going to bed too late, just out of habbit, but I’ve been able to get a lot more sleep due to a flexible work schedule. Never tell a college student they can come in whenever they want ‘caue they’ll sleep till 11:00am and come to work by 1:00pm. I can’t begin to say what more sleep does for me.
I’m so excited and yet a little apprehensive. I have a feeling that this experience studying in another country is going to have a strong affect on me. I know I’ll enjoy myself and have a good time, but, I don’t know. I feel like something else is going to happen, and I don’t know if it’ll be good or bad. Whatever. It’s probably me just being anxious. Oh, and I’m prepared this time! Before I left for Rome I had horrible acid reflux. The week before I leave for London I’ll arm myself with antacids.
I read the 6th and 7th Harry Potter books again for fun. It’s been about 4 years since I’ve read the 6th and I was surprised how much I liked it. I had vague memories of average feelings for the book the first time I read it. But granted, I read it during a very busy time in the summer before my senior year of high school.
While I still love the work of director David Yates, I was disappointed at some of my favorite parts (the memories in the pensive), and some plot essential parts, being left out of the 6th film. However, I do admire Yates’s way of completely capturing the main element of the story. In Order of the Phoenix the main element was Harry’s internal struggle with himself. His growing connection to Voldemort, his anger, etc. The main element in Half-Blood Prince is Harry and Dumbeldore’s relationship, how it grows, how their trust becomes even greater, how Harry starts to depend on Dumbeldore even more. This is established in the very opening images in the film, and I thought it was done perfectly. Having set up this element so well, Harry’s struggle in the 7th films with the truth of Dumbeldore should fall easily into place. That is if Yates works his "magic" for us again. I’m also anxious to see how Yates incorporates some of the important plot points into the 7th films that he left out of the 6th.
Anyways, enough about H.P. I have a sining gig tonight! Ahh! 20-30 mintues of singing. Good thing I’ve barely had to talk all day.
London is a nice place đŸ™‚ I live about 2 hours from there and my family come from there so it’s kinda in my DNA as it were. I hope you enjoy your time here. đŸ™‚
