New Years Eve

Happy new year everybody 🙂

So yeah I haven’t been writing in a while. So I have a few things to talk about. Mainly my very surprising new years eve. Originally I wanted to go to my colleague’s wedding “Afters” (not sure if that’s a thing that’s unique to Ireland or happens all around the world but one either gets invited to the full wedding or just to the party afterwards. After the dinner and stuff. That’s called “The afters”) but the girl who meant to give me a lift ended up not going and since the wedding was outside of Dublin and I don’t have a car I couldn’t go there. So that was disappointing. Alternatively to that I had planned to spend new years with my mate Nicolette but she decided that she wants to drive up to Belfast for new years with her mate Flora and even though I was welcome to come along I decided against it. Really wanted to wake up in my own bed. So third thing that happened was that Dermot invited me round to his place and even though he would have picked me up I would have had to stay the night as he lives quite a bit outside of Dublin city too. So wasn’t up to that either. So at that stage I was quite down… cos I really don’t mind spending xmas on my own (which I did again this year) but to not do something new years is a nightmare for me. So then I got this completely spontaneous call of Ferdinand. I am not sure if I mentioned him before. We hung out like once at my place and had a nice time but that was sorta it. So he rang me and told me that his plans also fell through. He meant to drive up to his brother in Galway but the roads were in an awful state and so he wasn’t able to go and so he asked me if I already had plans etc. So he picked me up a bit later and we originally meant to go to his place, have a few drinks and then head out to town after. Well… we arrived at his place, found a bottle of Whiskey in the fridge, put a Pizza in the oven which we then shared, drank the whiskey and talked until 6.30 in the morning… non-stop. It was an amazing night… nothing happened… we just talked… well we kissed once… but the rest… we just talked and talked and talked… about anything…. We had a lot in common… esp. an obsession with Star Wars and computer games lol. He even had a toy lightsabre the mad boy lol. I thought that was aweome of course and played with it for five minutes lol… what??? It had soundeffects!!! Couldn’t help myself!
So around half six I took a taxi home.
Saturday we went to the cinema. We originally wanted to go see Avatar but it was sold out so we went to watch Sherlock Holms. It was ok… entertaining… not the best movie ever or anything but ok… afterwards we went home to my place and watched another movie (hitchhikers guide to the galaxy) and then we checked out funny stuff on Youtube and chatted until 2am. Again nothing happened.
I think we’re both just really worried to be rushing into things and ruin what is growing between us. It’s sorta nice.
Well we’ll see what will happen. Today we had lunch together. We work for the same company… in case I haven’t mentioned that yet.

That’s really sweet though, hun! Honestly, it’s wonderful to talk and talk and talk with someone that you seem to have a lot in common with and have a connection somehow. It’s probably one of the best ways to start anything. At your pace, as friends, and on from there. That’s kinda how my husband and I began our relationship. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything. 🙂
