Narnia Part II
Well, I got to see Disney’s second attempt at Lewis’ classic stories of his world of Narnia. After the first movie, I was able to brace myself a bit more for twisted story lines, add drama and false character development. When you want to see the movie bad enough, you take what you can get. Caspian did very well over the weekend, and rightly so. I enjoyed it more than the first movie because of my curbed expectations.
The movie was good. There were added pieces of action, but I didn’t mind too much. The book itself is mostly a long journey by the kids, and deals more with faith than it does with action. So, you know a movie maker has to twist things around. Caspian will find it’s fan base – the Christian and family going movie hunters. It won’t sell the the amount of product that high school musical merchandise or Ben 10 merchandise can, but the director won’t have to take a job in the financial industry either.
My biggest concern going in was Reepicheep, but they actually did a good job with him, and set him up for movies to come. I’m not sure which sequel is coming next, but they should definitely do the Treader!
