USA

I just got back from a trip from France where I broadened my world view a bit more.  I met up with a friend of mine there, who is from the states but lives in Australia now.  His view on the States has certainly changed since he has moved.  He’s lived there about 2 years now.  He kept asking me questions about Bush and his decisions. Curious.

After watching the State of the Union last night, it is clear that the country is ready for change.  Bush seemed confident, even happy that it was his last speech.  He’s gone through more than I would wish on any president, and though his terms will go down as a disappointment, I think his overall performance has been underestimated.

I’ve heard from a few friends that he is pushing for a tax cut that would give everyone like $800 to try to fuel the economy.  I’m sure the American people would find all kinds of good things to spend their money on.  It’s one of the things we do best, buying anything form goth necklaces to wood dowels and anything in between.  I do think it could be a good idea though.  I mean, who wouldn’t want a $800 tax break?
