my own miracle…

Sometimes I just can’t believe how lucky I am. Once again, my prayers have been answered. I have never gone from such a state of stress and panic to a state of thankfulness and relief…all in the matter of days.

After going to the internal medicine specialist yesterday (yes, there are specialists for animals!) and getting several tests, xrays, and an ultra-sound- they think they have discovered what my kitty has. And what she does NOT have…cancer! I will take ANYTHING over cancer! So – they think that she has Pancreatitis. This is still not a good thing whatsoever- especially in an 11 year old cat. BUT…at least you can do something about it! I have to give her anti-nausea medicine, steroids, and administer fluids to her through an IV for the next week. You can imagine what it might be like to administer a cat an IV. Not fun..but I will do anything for my baby. So after strong meds and fluids for a week, we’ll see how she progresses and then take next steps. And (fingers crossed!) she should be better after about 2 weeks.
I am just so thankful that it wasn’t cancer and I hope that she starts feeling better. I HATE to throw pills down her throat and stick her with needles- but more so I hate to see her feeling so sick and down. I will keep praying for her recovery and hope that I will continue to be the lucky girl that I am and that she will get better.
My mom was right- things could only go up after the horrible past few days that I’ve experienced.  And just as I had hoped, my ankle is healing slowly but surely as well.
The weekend could not come at a BETTER time and I can’t wait to let go of some of that stress and enjoy some time (and cocktails!) with my friends!!! TGIF everyone and God Bless!

My cat is being treated “as if” she has inflammatory bowel disease. The treatment is quite similar to that used to pancreatitis. She’s on a daily dose of prednisolone, which really helps her, whatever the problem is. At 13, I wasn’t willing to subject her to the many tests needed to diagnose her exact problem, and her symptoms were a bit different than your kitty’s.

Anyway, giving a pet IV’s is tough no matter what, but I put the pills in a Greenies Pill Pocket and she takes it like a CHAMP. She meows for them every evening at pill time. Here: http://www.greenies.com/en_US/Cats/ Definitely worth a try.

Have a great weekend, fuffy. I hope the cat improves and that your ankle is soon back to normal.

ryn: no problem 🙂 I know JUST how you feel because pilling cats is *no joke*. When Betty White (the cat) gobbled up that pill pocket and asked for more, my days got sooooooooo much easier!
