back from Italy!

And now the story…Wow, where do I even begin?  Here goes…

I am back from Italy! It was an all-inclusive 2 week trip that I went on with my best friend and another one of our close friends…along with 50 other people on our tour that we met from all over the world including: California, New Orleans, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, and more. All around our age. We definitely made some great friends and had an awesome time! The cities that we went to were: Rome, Florence, Milan, Venice, Verona, Pompei, Pisa, Sirmione, Sorrento, and the Island of Capri. Needless to say, we were running around CONSTANTLY and it was intense. But well worth it. Don’t ask me what my favorite was though, because there was something that I loved about each of them…

We ate amazing food- pasta, pizza, bread, various meats and cheeses, etc. and it was all delicious. We saw so many great things from historical places like Vatican City (and seeing the pope in person about 10 feet away!), the colloseum, and the ancient roman ruins of pompei…to…beautiful scenic places like the famous Blue Gratto in the island of Capri & the view from the castle at Porto Vienne…to…the “nightlife” of the locals…and everything in between.

Random highlights include:

*seeing the Pope in person

 * riding on a vespa through the city of Rome

* taking a row boat into the Blue Gratto

* making out with an Italian guy named Lucca in Florence where we danced but neither of us understood a WORD the other was saying

* shopping in Milan

* a Gondola ride in Venice

* the view from the top of Anacapri

* doing the cheesy “tourist” picture of “holding up” the leaning tower of pisa

*the HUGE lemons in Sorrento where the liquor lemonchello originated

*the famous bridge in Florence and the famous artists that worked there

* dinner in Tuscany

* the tour of the vineyard at a castle near Sienna

*seeing where the story of Romeo and Juliet originated

* the craziness that ensued over the course of many hours on a tour bus

 And it was all INCREDIBLE.

* oh- and on a sidenote- despite what LC might have said on the Hills, Italy is not “like a parking lot” where men scream stuff to you. The guys there are forward yes. But aggressive? No. They are just not afraid to tell you if they think you are beautiful. Despite age/race/etc. they are just in general appreciative of women. They don’t go grabbing you or whistling or anything….As a matter of fact- I think U.S boys have something to learn from them!

It will take me some time to catch up on my faves- but I will!

Wow, what an experience! You got to do so much! Would you recommend going with a boy, or was this more of a girls trip kind of thing? Eric and I want to go to Italy and your way sounded like so much fun!
